Support & Promotion

Week 1

This week, we spent our time trying to expand our repertoire with either covers or originals. We did this buy creating a playlist of song that we think would be suitable for to cover and that would also fit the genre of music that we play.

We mixed these two songs together since they have the same chord progression, plus we thought that these two songs would work well with back vocals as well.

Week 2

We ran through the songs we already knew to see if we could change the arrangement
of Golden and The Way to make it sound different from when we had performed it previously. We realised that we wanted to add more texture to the songs with an extra brass instrument. Olly had suggested that the song Penitentiary Philosophy - Erykah Badu, would fit the genre the we play and would a challenging song but would sound really good if we pull it off.

Week 3

This week we focused on The Way since we hadn't gone through the whole songs of established the structure yet. We used the live version as a reference since the studio version was too slow for our liking and wasn't as musically interesting as the live version.

Week 4

We tried to work out what was the best way to go around learning, changing and playing Penitentiary Philosophy but we had felt as we didnt have enough time to get this song to a standard that we would want it at to perform in 3 weeks with limited time to rehearse.

Week 5

We worked on the Alicia Keys/ Erykah Badu arrangement. We were mainly working on how to blend both songs together but also how to change the groove of the song but not too much that it doesn't flow.

Week 6

We mainly ran through all the songs that we were going to perform, making sure that everyone understood what happened at every part of every song and to tighten and solos or stabs that may sound sloppy.

My role in the professional gig

My main role was to make a playlist for the gig in between acts, before and after the gig.

I also was the stage manager for the second night. This meant that I was the person to make sure the bands was on the side of the stage before they went on to make sure the gig ran efficiently and on time.
