Latin can be broken up into different categories like; rhythm, salsa, tango, bossa nova, percussion, samba, santana and many more.

In latin, a son clave rhythm which plays 3+2/2+3 

Percussion

Guiro - accenting off beats 
Shakers - playing quavers
Bell rhythm - cascarra 
Congas/ tumba/ quinto - plays quavers 
Cuica - (ask Olly)

Bass

Tambao rhythm 
Plays the root, 5th and octave note of the chord d
When it does play, it can be played on beats 4 - 1+ - 2+, which makes it tonally ambiguous.

Piano

Montono rhythm
